During the year a Webelos and Arrow of Light (AOL) Cub Scout goes on a journey to complete a number of fun adventures that will earn them many awards pins, and badges. This free printable will help you keep track of what a scout has earned and when they have officially received their award.

What Is The Bobcat Badge?
The Bobcat Badge is the first badge earned by anyone joining cub scouts. Whether you join as a Tiger, Bear, Wolf or Webelos, the first thing you will need to know and earn is the Bobcat Badge.
What Are The Bobcat Badge Requirements?
- Learn and say the Scout Oath, with help if needed.
- Learn and say the Scout Law, with help if needed.
- Show the Cub Scout Sign. Tell what it means.
- Show the Cub Scout Handshake. Tell what it means.
- Say the Cub Scout Motto. Tell what it means.
- Show the Cub Scout Salute. Tell what it means.
- With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide

What Are The Webelos & AOL Cub Scout Pins?
A Pin is an award that is given to a Webelos or Arrow of Light once they have completed all of the activities in a Required or Elective Adventure (ex. Cast Iron Chef). The earned pins are attached to an item called Webelos Colors. Webelos Colors are attached to the right sleeve below the American flag.
What Are The Webelos Badge Requirements?
- Complete the 6 Required Core Adventures.
- Complete 1 of the Elective Adventures that you will choose with your den.
- Earn your Bobcat Badge.
- Earn the Cyber Chip Award which discusses internet safety for kids. OR you can earn the Protect Yourself Rules Preview Adventure for Webelos.
- Go through the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide with your parents or other caring adult. The pamphlet can be found in the front of your Cub Scout Handbook.
- Be an active member of your Webelos den for at least six months since completing the fourth grade or for at least six months since becoming 10 years old.
- Complete each of the 4 required adventures
- In addition to the four required adventures, complete at least one elective adventure of your den’s or family’s choosing.
- With your parent, guardian, or other caring adult, complete the exercises in the pamphlet entitled How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide.
- Earn the Cyber Chip award for your age. (The Cyber Chip portion of this requirement may be waived by your parent or guardian if you do not have access to the internet.) OR Earn the Protect Yourself Rules for Arrow of Light.

Internet Safety For Kids - Earning The Cyber Chip
To earn the Cyber Chip for Grade 4 (Webelos) and Grade 5 (Arrow of Light) you will need to complete the following:
1. Read, commit to, and sign the Level 1 Internet Safety Pledge. (Certificates can be purchased from the Scout Shop)
Level 1 Internet Safety Pledge (for Cub Scouts)
- I will tell my trusted adult if anything makes me feel sad, scared, confused, or uncomfortable.
- I will ask my trusted adult before posting photos or sharing information like my name, address, current location, or phone number.
- I won’t meet face-to-face with anyone I meet in the digital world.
- I will respect the online property of others.
- I will always use good “netiquette” and not be rude or mean online.
2. Watch the video The Password Rap and another video of your choosing.
3. As an individual or with your den, use the Teachable Recipes to demonstrate Internet safety rules to your den leader, den, or pack.
4. Discuss with your unit leader the acceptable standards and practices for using allowed electronic devices, such as phones and games, at your meetings and other Scouting events.

Where Do I Put The Cyber Chip Badge?
All temporary patches should be hung on the right pocket of the cub scout uniform.
Some other examples of temporary patches you may earn are Day Camp patches, Shooting Sports Awards, Scout Sunday Award, etc.
The Cyber Chip Pocket Certificate can be laminated and carried with you or keep it in a special spot at home so you do not lose it.
How To Earn The Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award?
The Cub Scout Activity Award is available to all scouts and can be earned each year.
The first year you will receive the Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Emblem and then each year after that you will earn a pin that is added to the emblem.
To earn the Outdoor Activity Award a Webelos Scout must do the following:
- Attend a Cub Scout Day Camp OR a Cub Scout/Webelos Resident Camp
- Complete the Webelos Walkabout adventure.
- Complete 7 of the Outdoor Activities listed below.
(These activities must be in addition to any similar activities counted toward rank advancement and can be accomplished as a family, den, or pack.)
- Participate in a nature hike in your local area. This can be on an organized, marked trail, or just a hike to observe nature in your area.
- Participate in an outdoor activity such as a picnic or a fun day in a park.
- Explain the buddy system, and tell what to do if lost. Explain the importance of cooperation.
- Attend a pack overnighter. Be responsible by being prepared for the event.
- Complete an outdoor service project in your community.
- Complete a nature/conservation project in your area. This project should involve improving, beautifying, or supporting natural habitats. Discuss how this project helped you to respect nature.
- Participate in activities with your pack to earn the Summertime Pack Award.
- Participate in a nature observation activity. Describe or illustrate and display your observations at a den or pack meeting.
- Participate in an outdoor aquatics activity. This can be an organized swim meet or just a den, pack, or family swim.
- Participate in an outdoor campfire program. Perform in a skit, sing a song, or take part in a ceremony.
- Participate in an outdoor sporting event.
- Participate in an outdoor interfaith or other worship service.
- Explore a local city, county, state, or national park. Discuss with your den how a good citizen obeys the park rules.
- Invent an outside game, and play it outside with friends for 30 minutes.
Where Does The Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award Go?
The Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award is placed on the pocket flap of the right uniform pocket.
How To Earn The Cub Scout Shooting Sports Award?
The Cub Scout Shooting Sports Award can be earned only at day camps, resident camps, or a council-run activity or camping program. Any shooting activity must be led by a qualified range master.
A Webelos/Arrow of Light Scout can choose 1 of the 3 different disciplines BSA offers.
- BB Guns
- Archery
- Sling Shot
BB Guns Level 1 Requirements for Webelos & AOL
- Explain what you should do if you find a gun. Recite the four safety reminders.
- On an approved range in your city or state, explain how to use the safety mechanism, and demonstrate how to properly load, fire, and secure the BB gun.
- On an approved range, demonstrate to qualified leadership good shooting techniques, including eye dominance, shooting shoulder, breathing, sight alignment, trigger squeeze, and follow-through.
- On an approved range, show how to put away and properly store BB gun shooting equipment after use
Archery Level 1 Requirements for Webelos & AOL
- Demonstrate how to follow archery range safety rules and whistle commands.
- Identify and name a recurve bow and/or compound bow
- Explain and demonstrate how to apply and use arm guards, finger tabs, and quivers.
- On an approved range, demonstrate how to safely and effectively shoot a bow and arrow, including how to establish a correct stance, nock the arrow, hook and grip the bow, raise the bow, draw, anchor, hold, aim, and release/follow through
- On an approved range, demonstrate how to safely retrieve arrows after the range is clear and the command to retrieve arrows has been provided.
Slingshot Level 1 Requirements for Webelos & AOL
- On an approved range, demonstrate to qualified leadership good shooting techniques, including eye dominance, breathing, sight alignment, and follow-through.
- On an approved range, explain the parts of a slingshot and demonstrate how to properly use them.
- Explain the different types of ammunition that may be used with a slingshot and those that may not be used.
- Explain the different types of targets that may be used with a slingshot and those that may not be used.
Once the Weblos/AOL Cub Scout has completed Level 1 on their chosen discipline they are then allowed to move on to Level 2 which has more advanced techniques.
BB Gun Level 2 Requirements for Webelos & AOL
- Demonstrate one of the positions associated with shooting BB guns.
- On an approved range, fire five BBs at the target. Score your target, then repeat and do your best to improve your score.
- Demonstrate proper range commands, and explain how and when to use them.
Archery Level 2 Requirements for Webelos & AOL
- Identify 5 parts of the arrow and three major parts of the bow you will be shooting.
- Shoot five arrows at a target on an approved range, then repeat 3 times & do your best to improve your score each time.
- Demonstrate proper range commands, and explain how and when to use them.
- Tell five facts about archery in history or literature.
Slingshot Level 2 Requirements for Webelos & AOL
- On an approved range, shoot 5 shots at a target, then repeat 3 times & do your best to improve your score each time.
- Demonstrate proper range commands and explain how and when to use them.
- On an approved range, try shooting with your non-dominant hand.
Where Does The Shooting Sports Badge Go?
The Shooting Sports Award Badge can be worn on your right pocket as it is a temporary emblem.
For each subsequent discipline you learn you will be awarded a pin that can be attached to your Shooting Sports Award Badge.

The Religious Emblem is worn above the left pocket on the Cub Scout Uniform.
What Are The Webelos Requirements for Emergency Preparedness?
- Learn rescue techniques.
- Build a family emergency kit, with an adult family member participating in the project.
- Take a first-aid course.
- Learn to survive extreme weather situations.
- Learn about stranger awareness, Internet safety, or safety at home.
- Give a presentation to your den on preparing for emergencies.

What Are The World Conservation Award Requirements?
The World Conservation Award is a chance for cub scouts to think about how they can work towards improving our environment and that all countries are interdependent on each other and we all should be working together to take care of the planets environment.
- Earn the Building A Better World Adventure.
- Earnn the Into The Wild Adventure.
- Earn the Into The Woods Adventure.
- Earn the Earth Rocks Adventure.
- Complete requirement 1, 3a, and 3b from the Adventures In Science Adventure.
- Participate in a pack or den conservation project in addition to the above.
Where Does The World Conservation Award Go?
The World Conservation Award is a temporary badge and is placed on the right pocket of the cub scout uniform.
The location of the World Conservation Award tends to be a bit controversial as different packs have placed it in different areas of the shirt.
The current BSA Insignia Guide, page 13, states that the badge for a cub scout is “worn as a temporary patch on right pocket,”
You may want to check with your pack and see where they have chosen to place it and keep it consistent (even if it’s wrong ;-))
